Do I know Goku? I think so! Goku is....A Bumbkin Monk from the Mountains! I don't think Goku is stupid honestly, I'm not going to lay out some huge argument because I can fully understand why people say Goku is stupid. But this dives into my own views on stupidity but Goku is actually quite intelligent and a fast learner. He's just simply....a bumpkin Monk from the mountains, he literally does not understand modern views of intelligence or common sense because he wasn't raise around common people. Goku is a Monk who spends all of his time trying to learn master and perfect any and all forms of martial arts he can find, simply because he enjoys martial arts and fighting, it's his hobby. He didn't grow up with things standing in the way of his hobby or many responsibilities, so he doesn't understand things like Chi Chi getting angry that he wants to train instead of farm on a fundamental level like we would. Aside from what I've mentioned I believe everything else is pretty straight forward. He's got a heart of pure gold. He loves to fight and he loves to protect. At the end of the day I DO think Goku in Super is played off a little more like just a dimwit that usual but I don't think it's that big of a deal. I love Goku and can't wait to see what he gets his hardheaded butt into next

Fantastic video! This was a really effective and enjoyable analysis of Gohan's core character! Amazing work and I look forward to more of these (as I write this I'm about to watch the Goku video). I'd be more wary of using Freudian principles to explain even pop culture... guy was a maniac and few psychologists, behaviourists, or psychiatrists worth their salt put weight in them. The ones that do, do so to use as a negative contrast tool to demonstrate modern, more effective psychological principles that have a basis in scientific methodology and clinical effect.

I can't stand it when people talk about fictional characters as if they're real. Gohan doesn't like training or fighting, because a writer said that he doesn't. If the writer wanted, Gohan could love it, and they could just give any reason as to why. The reason Gohan hates it, is because the creator second-guessed himself, and decided that he actually wasn't going to make Gohan the protagonist, like he had planned to do. So he came up with a reason why Gohan will be hanging out in the rafters with Yamcha and Tien. That's all it is.

6:34 There is a lot to this part that is blatantly wrong. Goku has always been naive and carefree, but Super made him stupid and reckless. He has a basic education because of Grampa Gohan and Roshi. But there are still things he doesn't know, because he was a kid. You show that Goku now understood what Chichi meant by marriage when he got older. Goku is forgetful in Super. Forgetting to bring sensu beans in the Goku Black arc and the Broly movie. At End of Z, he doesn't forget that he has instant transmission. He has always been hyper focused on training. Goku took the heart medicine as intended. He was told to take it as soon as symptoms arise. It just happened to be when he was fighting A19. Goku's reason to not be revived was correct, it's literally the story of Z (excluding the Buu arc). These galactic treats only came to Earth because Goku was there. With the heart virus, it made Goku realize that he won't always be around. So he had to step aside so Gohan could be the protector of Earth. The dumbest Goku has been was when he was a kid (shocker I know). The only time he was that dumb is in Super. Goku in the future timeline defeated Freeza and King Cold. Because Trunks interfered with the present tl, Goku knew he didn't have to take action. Trunks even remarks how he made an unnecessary change in the timeline. Goku would have handled it if Trunks stayed back and watched from afar. 9:25 I only got up to this point in the vid and this comment is getting to long. There was a lot of misinfo and just useless padding that really annoyed me.

You could have made this an entire hour, and I would have enjoyed every minute. I haven't seen Dragon Ball in years, since around 2007. Also, unpopular opinion, I can see and agree with Zamasu with some aspects of his philosophy. If Dragon Ball had more characters like this, I probably would come back to watch more.

Zamasu is a very well written character by Dragonball standards, but what ultimately makes him evil is his arrogance, his double standard, and his psychopathy. To us Zamasu is an evil villain because he kills without pity or remorse, he claims to be doing it for a divine purpose but his goal isn't one of cold apathy and duty, but egotism and arrogance. Even amongst his fellow deities Zamasu is an abberation, he's a Kai who acts like a Destroyer, but even compared to Destroyers he is an Extremist. For all his talk of Justice and compassion of ridding Mortals of the suffering and futility of their existance, he certainly displays a sociopathic glee in killing them. Zamasu says he's doing it all for the greater good but he clearly enjoys killing those weaker than himself. Not even other Deities are safe from Zamasu because as he becomes more extreme in his methods and his mindset he willingly subverts the Divine order and uses violence to threaten and kill other Deities to remove them as obstacles to his Zero Mortal Plan. Zamasu goes from believing in Divine Justice to Zamasu Justice, so that anything Zamasu does IS justice because HE is the one doing it. It is this self-serving arrogance, entitlement and willingness to sacrifice others that makes Zamasu evil. He's not interested in making the multiverse better off for Deities because by the end he would be the only Deity left by virtue of killing off all the others (barring the Omni King Zeno). If you decide that any action you take is justified because YOU are the one doing it (and not because the act itself is justified), you become the villain.

I hate Gohan because hes taking non-violence to a pacifistic level in a fucking battle anime. Meanwhile everyone else understands that if someone is trying to kill you and everyone you love you're morally allowed to run the ultimate ones with them. His entire arc feels more like he has to either break his personal code just to act like it never happened or be bailed out by the gang/mostly his dad.

It's not that people don't understand Gohan.... it's that they are disappointed in him.... He had the potential to be the best, most coolest and strongest character.... and we knew it.... So I feel it can't be helped that people are disappointed. And DBA sums it up perfectly: "GOHAN IS THE STRONGEST IN THE UNIVERSE BUT STILL DOESN'T DO CRAAAAAAP!" And no matter what, when a character has too much potential, if that potential is not met, fans will be disappointed...

I think 1 thing that is overlooked in this otherwise awesome video, is Gohan being a halfbreed. The Saiyan side of his genetics pumps adrenaline during a fight, because they have evolved to not just enjoy fights, but get stronger during it and from it. So, Gohan has 2 sides: The side that doesn't like to fight at all, and the side that comes from awakening his S-Cells. But, everytime he does this, his human side is burning with rage and frustration, so his adrenaline instead of making him enjoy the fight, makes him enjoy stomping and undermining his opponent, and making them suffer. This in turn has caused him problems time and time again, which in turn has made him be afraid of his Saiyan side altogether - Hence why in Super Gohan is always going "I will get stronger with my human side". Ultimate Gohan, once mastered is the easiest to control for him. That's also why UG is always so serious, because he is suppressing his trauma and resulting feelings from those, while fighting from "responsibility". But then Beast Gohan again awakens his S-cells, and we see him doing that again.

I agree with most of the video except the last part. Dude took IMMENSE pleasure in exterminating every single person on those planets. If you saw someone in real life with that same reaction towards killing ants, you'd call them a psychopath.

This begs a question, what if the Raditz fight happened when Gohan was like 14 or spmething? What if in that world, he didnt care for studying (we dont need to go extreme he just didnt like to stay cooped up all day) and martial arts was a more gradual thing he happily picked up, even if for no other reason than to hang out with his dad. I feel like this could have led to a more willing "Hero" of Gohan, a more gentle giant than the Gohan we got in Super.

I don’t believe Zamasu’s motives or even actions are what make him perceived as evil. Take for example Zeno or even Beerus when they erase universes or destroy worlds. There is no real joy in doing so, they just do it on a whim and without regard much like a force of nature. Zamasu on the other hand clearly hates mortals and the gods for allowing mortals to exist. He revels in their destruction and loves to torment them. For example, when they told Goku what they did to ChiChi and Goten, or even the fact that they descend onto the earth and try to wipe out the humans one by one when they could just resurface the planet in one move. So he isn’t just “fixing” the problem of his ideal utopia, nor does he show regret that the mortals didn’t live up to the gods’ standards. He is cruel and sadistic because that is what he wants for himself. This makes him an evil character despite the philosophical debate where you could argue he is correct.

gohan is one of the most miss understood characters in this. but yes gohan REALLY needs to take a hint. if there's a threat he needs to take action. the world, universe or his family could be on the line. yes he dislikes fighting. but when it comes to stuff like this. he can't say no with something this heavy. I do agree forcing him to fight that has nothing to do with those facts. that's on them. what if he finally snaps from there bullshit and kick there ass to make a point? I get why vegeta's upset. I mean think about what's running in his head. "1st there's a clown in the ranks and now we have a cry baby that hardly fights. the sayian race really is dead.." but here's what I don't take about this writing. why does he even have this op power that doesn't match with his personality? I get that "emotion is power" but it's given to someone that doesn't want to fight. it's annoying when writers do that to those types of characters. less effort doesn't make them strong. stop giving crybabies god tier powers. -_- that never makes sense to me.

Tbh i still dont believe zamasu deserves sympathy The biggest flaw i can see is, with kami, he knew not to trust mortals in general but still believed that there were good ones out there But zamasu just had this thought of being mortal just being the opposite of good. For zamasu there was no good or evil, there was good or mortal, and while with kami it was "misuse of the dragon balls" which is a clear evident thing, if the person uses the dragon balls in a bad way then thats bad, with zamasu it was the "misuse of the gift of intelligence" which is very vague and can be interpreted in so many ways, such as what constitutes as misuse but most importantly what even is this "gift of intelligence" He also had a massive "messiah" complex, believing to be 100% right and all knowing when he was still green (pun not intended) by the fact he was still being mentored to be a kai. That made diplomacy simply not an option with him since he simply does not trust mortals to even exist without being inherently evil and believes the gods to be a bunch of fools that do nothing and are completely incompetent, meaning there is the possibility of, if he becomes a destroyer in training, for him to just ignore the angels guidance and just destroy whatever he wants by any metric he chooses, which from what we have seen his requirement to be destroyed is simply to be mortal. Like i said he believes every destroyer to be a fool that makes mistakes nonstop and for him to be the perfect being that can fix it all, and his method to fix it all is just genocide over every mortal

i dont think Vegeta will ever be a God of Destruction. with all that Beerus said it takes to hold the position its simply not something Vegeta is able to do now with his current lifestyle. now before anyone says anything im not even saying Goku can do it, in fact the job of a God of Destruction is one thing Goku could never do because of his very nature. a God of Destruction needs to be willing to destroy planets on a whim and to slaughter millions if not billions or trillions at a time while doing so. its not that they are evil, but their role and in fact their entire purpose is geared towards doing that for the good of the universe. Goku could never kill innocent beings or planets and Vegeta while willing and likely to do so. is not able to perform the task with a clear conscious anymore, like the video stated, Vegeta is trying to repent for the many deaths he had caused that were needless and unjustified. it would be amazing to have at least one arc where Vegeta finally gets to be the hero, to save the day and defeat the bad guy all without having to back into his little corner of "Sayian pride". it would be nice to see him finally snap the chain and him acknowledge that while he is a Sayian by birth he is now more earthling than anything else and that THIS is what he strives to protect. honestly i dont want either Vegeta or Goku becoming anything more than they are, two dudes training to be the strongest in the universe and loving every moment of it (in their own ways). to make either one of them a deity would take away from their characters and their entire premise. maybe its just me but i think they need to stop with the new forms and call it quits with ultra instinct and ultra ego. they are okay but anything else from here is going to push things to far. its time for them to finally hit a level cap and for them to be the two strongest beings possible just under Zeno himself. like said maybe its just me but im tired of all the BS that dragonball has become. super was good until ultra instinct was thrown in and now its just some new form that only Goku or Vegeta can unlock. hell they said it themselves that not even the Gods of Destruction were able to master it. Beerus is the strongest of the lot and even he hasnt been able to unlock or even use it. so for both Goku AND Vegeta to unlock it and master it is just a shade to far for me. Beerus is millions of years old and youre telling me that in all that time he has yet to even unlock a form that took Goku about a year to get and even master when he first heard of it? yeah, hard pass on that BS.

It's not that he adores fighting it's that Gohan is shown to be a hardworking young man who understands his duties and when written well doesn't slack off. This is why GT Gohan is so awesome he's still 100% a nerd as he should be but he's also a prodigious fighter who do saiyan stuff and nerd stuff. The problem with super is it depicts him as incompetent. He's NOT incompetent he surpassed his dad at 11.

What I think people are not remembering, is the fact that everybody at the end of the Cell saga, teamed up on Cell because Gohan was not able to defeat him on his own. Yes Gohan punched Cell really hard to the point that he threw up android 18, therefore, Gohan was only able to defeat semi perfect cell but he didn’t. Therefore on the verge of self destruction, Goku jumped in. But when Cell returns he was much stronger. Vegeta caught Cell off guard and then the other fighters ended up chiming in, and if it wasn’t for the spirit of Goku helping gohan, Cell would not have been defeated.
